EXO Suho made EXO-L’s hearts jump a little by releasing his new music, Grey Suit.

On April 4, Suho released his mini-album and the official music video of its title track. Grey Suit highlighted the K-pop idol’s vocals as it is a progressive rock song with heartfelt lyrics. It tells the story of a person feeling grey during empty times before having colorful emotions again after meeting someone.

Suho shared the new project a month after his discharge from the military.

Aside from the song’s lyrics, Grey Suit reportedly has a deeper meaning which he explained in an interview recently.

EXO Suho Says Grey Suit is a Metaphor

Before releasing his second solo album, Suho sat for an interview with Esquire Korea where he described the album and its theme.

According to the K-pop idol, Grey Suit is about time and the period he was away to complete his military duties. He reportedly created the album to communicate with the fans and tell them the experiences he went through throughout the one year and nine months of being away from the spotlight.

He added that the album title is a metaphor, and that he got it from the book titled, Momo.

“When you read the book, there are people in grey suits that take away time from others. At the center of the novel are the gentlemen in grey suits who steal time and the mysterious girl ‘Momo’ who chases these gentlemen down to reclaim others’ time. While it’s a fairytale, it’s a novel adults can read too that deals with how precious time is,” he explained.

Suho expressed his heartbreak as he admitted that the time he spent in the military felt like a lost one since he could not meet his fans. While he was serving the country, he could not do anything but watch the other EXO members continue their legacy and promote without him.

EXO Suho Breaks Record With Grey Suit

Everything was worth it though, as Suho’s album ultimately became the solo K-pop album this year with most no. 1s on iTunes album chart so far.

Multiple outlets revealed that the album debuted at no. 2 on worldwide iTunes album chary and European iTunes album chart. It even topped the charts of 33 countries following its April 4th release.

With that, Grey Suit instantly became the current album released in 2022 that has the most no. 1 on the album charts.
