Gina Carano's controversial firing from Disney and Lucasfilm is one of the biggest newsmakers this year but months following her ousting from the Star Wars universe, the former Cara Dune actress is ready to finally move forward with her life and career. Following her firing, Carano found an ally with The Daily Wire's Ben Shapiro who quickly offered the ex-MMA fighter the opportunity to direct, produce, and star in her own feature film, something that she has apparently been wanting to do.

When news first broke out about Shapiro and Carano's partnership, several sources claimed that the project she will be taking on is a science-fiction epic similar to Star Wars. While unconfirmed during the time, the idea of her sticking it up to Lucasfilm by creating her own "galaxy" inspired by the franchise that made her popular isn't that much of a stretch to actually believe.

However, we can now confirm that all reports suggesting that Carano's first project outside Lucasfilm will be sci-fi-centric are completely false, at least for the time being. Deadline reports that Gina will star in an action-thriller written by The Hitcher's Eric Red. The project doesn't have a title yet but according to the entertainment website, it will be based on his White Knuckle novel and will revolve around the story of a traumatized woman who hires a long-hauler to track down an infamous serial killer.

Months may have passed since Carano's unceremonious firing from Lucasfilm but it looks like revenge is still on the actress' mind. It'll be interesting to see what her involvement with The Daily Wire does for her career but at least she's doing something now instead of being sidelined for good.

Meanwhile, there's still no news as to what happens with Cara Dune in The Mandalorian Season 3.
