It was recently confirmed that Scott Derrickson has made his exit from the upcoming Doctor Strange sequel. Marvel fans were quite disappointed with the news, especially because they loved his work on the first movie. However, another director tries to stay positive about the news.

Taking to Twitter, Derrickson shares that he's grateful to have been in collaboration with the studio. Phil Lord, who left the Solo: A Star Wars Story movie, replied to his tweet to offer some words of encouragement to Derrickson.

The Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse director told him that Derrickson has joined a "secret club of punk rockers" and that he's sending him love and support. You can check out the tweet below.

If you recall, Lord and Christopher Miller revealed to have left the Star Wars spin-off in the middle of production because they also had different creative visions with Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy. The only difference is that they got deep enough into production compared to Derrickson's case. That being said, although he won't be directing the sequel, Derrickson would still remain as the film's Executive Producer.

Set for a 2021 release, it's only a matter of time till the studio will find someone who'll replace Derrickson for the upcoming movie. There are no reports about that yet, so fans could only wait for Marvel's decision in the meantime.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is slated for release on May 5, 2021.
