There is little doubt that fans are still celebrating Ewan McGregor's return as Obi-Wan Kenobi. But what convinced the prequel trilogy actor to return in the upcoming Disney+ series? Interestingly, he was so impressed with the first season of The Mandalorian because of the way it brought him back to the Star Wars Universe.
McGregor recently took part in Variety's virtual chat Actors on Actors where he spoke with The Mandalorian star Pedro Pascal. At one point, the Birds of Prey actor asked Pascal if he had already started working on the show's third season then went on to admit that he was a huge fan of the show.
"It pulled me back into the Star Wars world, the Mandalorian series, in a way I didn't expect. It blew me away how much I loved it," McGregor said.
We're not exactly surprised that McGregor loved The Mandalorian so much. After all, the series introduced interesting new characters but stayed true to the Star Wars formula. Needless to say, we're loving how it was enough to convince McGregor that it was time to bring back his Jedi Master.
McGregor also revealed during the conversation that he had just come off the set of his new series and that he has been collaborating with crew members who had previously worked on The Mandalorian with director Deborah Chow. This could only mean that the new show will be just as action-packed as Pascal's series.
Both The Mandalorian Season 3 and Obi-Wan Kenobi have not yet been given official release dates. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
