Bruce Campbell plays Ash Williams, the anti-hero protagonist of the franchise. Unfortunately, we won’t see Campbell in the Evil Dead Rise.

In the last film of the original trilogy, Army of Darkness, Ash Williams time-travels back to the Middle Ages, where he has to find the Necronomicon and use it to return back home in the modern times.

Ash Williams ends up battling through hordes of Deadites, helping Duke Henry win a war and killing his clone before he finds the Necronomicon. He uses the book, following the instructions as best as he can remember, and lands back home.

Army of Darkness's closing scenes shows a Deadite who traveled to the future, terrorizing people in the S-Mart. Ash Williams kills it with a rifle and delivers his signature line before kissing his co-worker.
