Every Disney Project Update Dropped During Disney Investor Day


There is little doubt that Disney already has a lot of projects lined up for the coming years. Luckily, we finally got some updates on these shows and films, thanks to the recent Disney Investor Day. Here are all the awesome news dropped during the event.

Disney Animation has several projects lined up in the next few years. The first major film is Raya and the Last Dragon which will premiere in selected theaters as well as on Disney+ on March 5, 2021, via Premier Access. In addition to that, the studio announced Encanto, a new movie that will be set in Colombia. The movie is currently in development and Lin-Manuel Miranda has been confirmed to write the music.

2022 will see the Big Hero 6 spin-off series Baymax! which is set to air early next year while the Zootopia Plus series will hit the streaming service in spring. We'll also be expecting Iwaju, an original long-form series that is being developed in partnership with Kugali Media, later on, the same year.

The Princess and The Frog are also getting a spin-off titled Tiana. In addition to that, the long-form musical comedy series for Moana will be available in 2023. The aforementioned shows will all premiere on Disney+.

Pixar also has plenty of awesome things to look forward to. Pixar Popcorn is a series of shorts featuring the iconic Pixar characters that will start streaming in January next year while the Up spin-off Dug Days will premiere in fall.

It was also confirmed that a Cars series following Lightning McQueen and Mater will be available for streaming in Fall 2022. Meanwhile, Pixar's first original long-form animated series about a middle school softball team titled Win or Lose will premiere on Disney+ in Fall 2023.

Finally, Pixar films are quite exciting. The first one is Luca, a movie set in Italy that will hit theaters in June next year. However, the obvious highlight is Lightyear, the Toy Story spin-off film following Buzz Lightyear's origin story. Featuring Chris Evans as the young Buzz, the movie will hit theaters on June 17, 2022.

Fans can also look forward to Turning Red, a film about a girl going through puberty who transforms into a giant red panda when she gets excited. The project is currently in development.
