Could Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker Newbie Jannah Be Lando Calrissian’s Daughter?

Ever since Lucasfilm announced Star Wars: Episode IX's full cast list revealing the arrival of newbie Naomi Ackie, fans wondered whether the actor's character would be related to Lando Calrissian. After all, Billy Dee Williams was going to reprise his role in Lucasfilm's third and final sequel trilogy installment. It would be fitting to see his daughter in the film.

Earlier this month, Naomi Ackie attended the panel for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker during the 2019 Star Wars Celebration in Chicago along with the film's director J.J. Abrams and the rest of the film's stars, Daisy Ridley (Rey), John Boyega (Finn), Oscar Isaac (Poe), Joonas Suotomo (Chewbacca), and Kelly Marie Tran (Rose).

During the gathering, panel moderator Stephen Colbert asked Ackie to clarify the rumors whether. Ackie's character, Jannah, might or might not be the daughter of Lando (via Cinema Blend).

Though Ackie didn't give a definite yes or no, the actress seemed to tease the possibility:

"Listen, Lando is a charming man, so he could have children all over the universe," the actress responded to a laughing crowd.

That's right. Lando is suave – one of the many characteristics that's made fans fall in love with him ever since he first appeared in Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back. Who knows what kind of little romantic hijinks Lando's gotten himself into over the years.

Still, we can't really be sure whether or not Jannah will play Lando's daughter. Lucasfilm has yet to give an actual confirmation, and we're sure that the studio won't be doing that anytime soon.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker premieres December 20, 2019.
