Eternals Star Says Eternals 2 Isn't Sure to Happen

It’s common knowledge that Marvel is one of the biggest franchises in the world. Despite its popularity and success, there is no guarantee that all of its films will be well-embraced, just like what happened to Eternals, which has the lowest Rotten Tomatoes rating of any Marvel movie and feels underappreciated by most MCU fans.

Given its low turnout, some still wonder if the studio is planning a sequel or second installment for Eternals to have a chance to redeem itself; however, while talking to Insider, Lauren Ridloff, who played Makkari in the film, addressed her potential MCU return.

“Well, I hope so. I would think so, but who knows? We are all waiting,” Ridloff said. The Walking Dead star also revealed that some of her scenes were taken out from the film.

“There were a lot of things that were taken out. Some of my scenes were taken out, which is a bummer, but it was really great to see some other scenes.” she disclosed.

Earlier this month, another Eternals star Kumail Nanjiani who portrayed Kingo in the film also denied any developments for a sequel.

He said, “I'm completely in the dark. I have no idea what's going on. Truly no idea what's going on. I genuinely don't know when or if Kingo is coming back to the MCU. I really have no idea.”

Despite Eternals ending with the wording that the immortal beings will return and its producer claiming that fans have not seen the last of the immortal heroes, its stars continue to think otherwise.

The film concluded with Makkari, Druig, and Thena getting a surprise visit from Eros and Pip the Troll. They introduce themselves and offer their help to save their friend. The conclusion does provide room for a follow-up in the story. However, Eternals 2 cannot be found in the future plans of the MCU.

At this time, fans can only hope that Marvel will not abandon the characters and the story. The studio is known for its secret policy, so fans are open to speculating over what projects they are helming for the upcoming phases.

Eternals is available to stream on Disney+.
