We're still waiting for the premiere of Eternals but it looks like Lauren Ridloff is already hyping up her upcoming debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe flick. The Walking Dead star has just admitted that she is truly excited about her role as the first deaf superhero in the MCU.
Ridloff, who has been cast as Makkari in Eternals, is set to be the first deaf actor to play a major role in an MCU film. Needless to say, it's an honor for the Legacies actress and she explained that she is excited about the representation.
"I am more thrilled than overwhelmed about being given the opportunity to represent the deaf community," Ridloff said in an interview with HeyUGuys. She then added that she is hoping this won't be the last time that a deaf character will appear in the Marvel Universe.
"I'm very thrilled about that - just to bring in that storyline within the MCU. I think there's plenty of room for more stories like that," Ridloff said.
There is little doubt that Eternals will be introducing several firsts. In addition to Ridloff's Makkari, the upcoming film will also feature the debut of MCU's first gay superhero Phastos, who will be played by Brian Tyree Henry.
Eternals is directed by Chloe Zhao and also stars Angelina Jolie, Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani, Salma Hayek, Lia McHugh, Don Lee, and Kit Harington. The film is currently scheduled for release on November 5, 2021.
