Eternals Director Chloe Zhao Wants to Work on a Star Wars Movie

There is little doubt that Chloe Zhao has achieved so much in the past six years. However, it looks like the Eternals director still wants to do more with her already impressive career. Zhao has humbly admitted that she would love to direct her own Star Wars movie in the future.

Zhao recently spoke to Empire magazine as part of the publication's extensive cover on Eternals. At one point, it is revealed that the filmmaker keeps mentioning Star Wars throughout the conversation. When asked if she would be interested in working on a Star Wars movie, Zhao chose her words carefully.

"Hmmmm. I have to tread very carefully with what I say here," she said with a laugh. "Yes. Let's just say, it's a world I have so much reverence for because it was such an important part of my life."

It's no surprise that Zhao has so much respect for the Star Wars Universe. For most people, it's their first introduction into the wonders of western cinema. Working on a Star Wars movie would be an amazing project for Zhao and we're hoping Disney and Lucasfilm consider her in the future.

Zhao has already proven that she is one of the most promising filmmakers right now, thanks to the success of her movies Songs My Brother Taught Me and The Rider. She recently won the Academy Award for Best Director for the film Nomadland.

Eternals will star Gemma Chan, Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani, Lia McHugh, Brian Tyree Henry, Lauren Ridloff, Barry Keoghan, Don Lee, Harish Patel, Kit Harington, Salma Hayek, and Angelina Jolie. The film is scheduled for release on November 5, 2021.
