Emma Watson, the 25-year-old British actress who played Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter films, took to Twitter today to to say she can't wait to see newly-cast Noma Dumezweni reinvigorate the role.
"Can't wait to see Noma Dumezweni as Hermione on stage this year," Watson tweeted.
Fans of the Harry Potter saga previously expressed concern that the 45-year-old, who will portray an adult Hermione in the London production, does not bare a resemblance to the Noah actress.
Watson silenced critics after fans expressed confusion at the divergence between the two women, with some even making racist comments. The star's response comes two weeks after Harry Potter creator J.K. Rowling addressed the social media outcry concerning the casting of Dumezweni. Rowling pointed out that there is nothing in the canon of her books that explicitly describes Hermione's complexion, and stated that she "loves black Hermione."
