Emma Stone Originally Pitched Zombieland 2 Crossover With The Walking Dead

Have you ever wondered if Zombieland and The Walking Dead existed in the same universe? Emma Stone has, and she actually pitched a crossover between Zombieland: Double Tap and the AMC series to director Ruben Fleischer.

Fleischer recently spoke to Uproxx about the sequel and revealed that Stone actually came up with the idea of a crossover between the movie and the show.

"Emma had a funny idea that as our heroes are kind of making their way through the post-apocalyptic landscape, they come across, just in passing, some members of the cast of TheWalking Dead. But we never were able to make that happen," Fleischer said.

Now, why didn't I think of that? It could have been an interesting way to confirm that the zombie apocalypse is happening in just one universe. It might even explain what happened to Rick Grimes (don't worry, we'll learn about that in the TWD spin-off movie). On the other hand, we're not quite sure if Rick will get along well with Tallahassee and the rest of the crew.

Although the crossover doesn't actually happen in Double Tap, fans of The Walking Dead will be happy to learn that there is an awesome Easter Egg in the sequel. We'll spare you the details but it's something to look forward to in the film.

Zombieland: Double Tap also brings back Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, and Abigail Breslin. New cast members include Rosario Dawson, Avan Jogia, and Zoey Deutch. The film hits theaters on October 18.
