Is Emily Blunt Open to Play Mary Poppins Again?

Emily Blunt had some big shoes to fill when she was cast as everyone's favorite magical nanny in Mary Poppins Returns, and a lot of pressure is on her to deliver a performance on par with Julie Andrews. Despite the pressure though, it looks like Blunt is ready to play the role again should she get an opportunity.

Talking to CBS News, Blunt was asked on whether she would like to reprise Poppins in a sequel, to which she replied:

"I would! I want to be her again. I like being her. She's completely bizarre and unknowable. What I love about her is really what Travers said about her: 'In order to fly, you need something solid to take off from.' And I love that about her. Practical, yet magical".

Personally, I think it's too early to expect a sequel for the film, and I would just rather wait and see if Returns is actually any good first. With all the build-ups to these cinematic franchises, I kind of just want Returns to stand on its own instead of just building up to more things coming in the future.

Based on the released music for the film, and the trailers as well, it seems that Mary Poppins Returns is going to be every bit of magical as the first movie. I think Blunt is a fantastic actress, and everyone else in the film including Lin-Manuel Miranda, Colin Firth, and Meryl Streep are all great additions to the cast.

Mary Poppins Returns to theaters this week on Dec. 19.
