Ein Will Be Portrayed as a Main Character in Cowboy Bebop Live-Action Series

There is little doubt that fans are already excited to see the adorable Ein in Cowboy Bebop. But will the unusually intelligent corgi end up being just a mascot in the upcoming Netflix series adaptation? Showrunner Andre Nemec assures fans that Ein will be treated like a main character in the highly anticipated show.

Ein is undoubtedly one of the fan favorites from the anime so it was very important that the pooch should be in the live-action series. Nemec knows this and confirms with Polygon that he and his team made sure the character gets the role that he deserves.

"Ein is definitely in our show, and is definitely part of the team," Nemec says. "As always, there was something to talk about with each one of [the characters]. What is the real soul of this character? We did that work for Ein as well," Nemec said.

It's a promising detail considering that Ein is one of the first characters to join the Bebop crew. The pooch was originally introduced in the anime's second episode and was promptly welcomed by Spike Spiegel and Jet Black into the ship. In addition to that, Ein is a very useful member of the team so it's only fair that the live-action version will be more than just eye candy.

It was also confirmed that there are two corgis who portray Ein in the series. Although the names of these dogs were not revealed, it's safe to say that they are very good girls (or boys).

Cowboy Bebop stars John Cho as Spike Spiegel, Mustafa Shakir as Jet Black, Daniella Pineda as Faye Valentine, Alex Hassell as Vicious, and Elena Satine as Julia. The 10-episode series will premiere on Netflix on November 19, 2021.
