Edward Norton Wanted Better Script For His Incredible Hulk Movie

The Marvel Cinematic Universe might be a Hollywood juggernaut but it still has its fair share of critics. Whether it be about the MCU formula that requires constant comedy or how almost no one important dies, which changed dramatically with Avengers: Infinity War, it's proof that this franchise isn't perfect.

Edward Norton's short jab at Marvel during the Comedy Central Roast of Bruce Willis also shows that those critics can come from the company.

Norton notoriously worked for Marvel on one film and left. That film was The Incredible Hulk, which many see as a weak MCU film, though it was miles better than Ang Lee's odd Hulk film from 2003. During the roast, Norton said he wanted a better script for the film, which he didn't get. In the end, Norton was replaced by Mark Ruffalo, who many enjoy seeing as Bruce Banner and Hulk.

While it's hard to say if Ruffalo is better than Norton since he hasn't had his own solo film, we can say that his versions of Banner and Hulk have been managed better. Ruffalo's version of the character has had many memorable scenes throughout the MCU, though many people's favorite scene comes from 2012's The Avengers, where he hilariously tossed Loki around like a paper bag.

Ruffalo's Banner and Hulk are expected to return for Avengers 4, which comes out on May 3, 2019.
