Ed Boon Wants Terry Crews for Jax in Mortal Kombat 11

Mortal Kombat is bringing in a celebrity voice for Mortal Kombat 11 in the form of Ronda Rousy's Sonya Blade, and it looks like NetherRealm creative director Ed Boon wants another actor to take over a classic character.

Artists BossLogic had shared this image of Terry Crews as Jax, and Ed Boon shares:

What's cool is, Crews himself if very enthusiastic about taking on the role, and he says:

This isn't the first videogame character that Crews has also showed enthusiasm for playing as well. Back in 2017, Crews had campaigned to play incoming character Doomfist for Blizzard's Overwatch. Crews lost the role to Sahr Ngaujah, but I have a feeling Blizzard already has Crews in mind should they introduce someone new down the line.

Personally, I was kind of hoping they gave Doomfist a Legendary skin of a previous wielder of the weapon, with Crews providing the voice. He would have the same skillset, and we have the satisfaction of Crews screaming "POWER!" as he smashes people in the game.

Boon hasn't confirmed that Jax will be in the game yet, but at least we know that he (and Crews) are very eager to have Crews come onboard and play the character. If Blizzard can't give us Crews-fist, I'd rather just see him in Mortal Kombat 11–voice and character model.

Mortal Kombat 11 comes out April 11.
