It goes without saying that Marvel has dominated film and television but their games have been on quite a roll as of late. The recently-concluded D23 Expo 2022 pretty much confirmed that aside from anticipated titles like Spider-Man 2, more exciting video game titles are on their way, including titles featuring Captain America and Black Panther.

Now, days after D23 Expo, a new standalone game has just been confirmed to be in the works. Electronic Arts officially announced the long-rumored Iron Man video game developed by Marvel Games and Motive Studio. The untitled project will be an all-new single-player, third-person video game that is currently "in early development".

An official statement posted on EA's website reveals that the game will feature an original story that will tap into the rich history of arguably the most iconic member of the Avengers. It reads: "We’re thrilled to share that an all-new single-player, third-person, action-adventure Iron Man video game is now in early development at Montreal-based Motive Studio. The team is being led by Olivier Proulx, who brings experience working on past Marvel titles like Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, and is joined by a dedicated team of passionate industry veterans including Ian Frazier, Maëlenn Lumineau, and JF Poirier at the studio."

"Developed in collaboration with Marvel Games, the game will feature an original narrative that taps into the rich history of Iron Man, channeling the complexity, charisma, and creative genius of Tony Stark, and enabling players to feel what it’s like to truly play as Iron Man," the statement adds.

It'll be interesting to see how this game would fare against Insomniac Games' critically-acclaimed Spider-Man and Square Enix's Guardians of the Galaxy but given how EA has published countless classics through the years, I believe the project is in good hands.

considering Iron Man is no longer a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it's a shame that the title wasn't developed much sooner. But hey, it's better late than never, right?

Details about EA's Iron Man video game are currently under wraps. Meanwhile, all of Iron Man's MCU appearances can be streamed on Disney+.
