Dylan O'Brien Addresses Playing Future Superhero Role Amid Nightwing Casting Rumors

Dylan O'Brien leaped with his acting career when the actor first starred as Stiles Stilinski in MTV's Teen Wolf and played the lead role of James Dashner's live-action adaptation of The Maze Runner. After several years in the industry, O'Brien established a good reputation for himself starring in different films like Netflix's Love and Monsters, American Assassin, and his latest film, The Outfit.

With O'Brien's eventful career, the actor is also the top choice for DC's Nightwing and recent rumors claim that the actor will bring the DC Comics character in live-action. However, in a recent interview with Post Cred Prod, O'Brien debunks Nightwing casting rumors that the fans are throwing. The actor explained, "I'm aware of it. I've seen a lot of it. I've not heard anything about it on the professional side, but it's cool that it made its way to me, to the point where I asked my manager, 'Is this even an actual thing?'"

In another recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, while promoting his new film The Outfit, O'Brien was asked if playing a superhero role ever interests him. The actor responded, “In the way that I want to approach my career, I just don’t think it would benefit what I want to do, nor do I think it’s interesting to me. Why can’t I be disinterested in those things? (Laughs.) It’s just not what I’m into, and it’s not what I’m interested in doing with my career and job. I’m also not closed to anything. I would entertain everything. But also, those things are a big life change as well. I don’t think people think about that a lot. It’s a really big commitment. So all that stuff goes into it. And you’re right. It is the game now, and I can’t believe how much I talk about it. Even when I answer honestly, everyone is like, “Wow, watching Dylan lie about this is hilarious. He’s obviously Nightwing.” And I’m just like, “This is crazy.” (Laughs.) So I have literally heard nothing about it. It’s not a real thing. (Laughs.) It’s just funny how it all happens, and yes, it seems to only happen with these superhero things.”

Well, it looks like DC hasn't contacted O'Brien yet about the Nightwing role. Though Dylan O'Brien seems to be uninterested in playing a superhero role in the future of DC and Marvel, we can definitely see the star in different franchises that O'Brien personally finds interesting.

For now, Dylan O'Brien will star as Ritchie in Graham Moore's The Outfit which will premiere in theaters on March 18.
