Dwayne Johnson Reportedly Refused to Appear in Shazam 2

Dwayne Johnson's future as Black Adam in the DC franchise remains in limbo due to the underwhelming performance of his solo film at the box office and the impending changes that are coming in the DCU franchise under James Gunn and Peter Safran. However, it looks like there was an upcoming DC film in which he was also supposed to appear, but he decided to decline.

TheWrap reporter Umberto Gonzalez revealed on Twitter that Johnson turned down the offer to make a cameo appearance as Black Adam in Shazam! Fury of the Gods. He didn't reveal the details regarding why the actor made the decision or the circumstances regarding his supposed cameo in the film.

"Rock passed on doing a cameo in Shazam 2 when he was asked," he wrote.

So far, neither Johnson nor DC Studios have made any comments or confirmation regarding this scoop. Some fans have speculated prior to this that Johnson might make a cameo appearance in the upcoming sequel considering the connection between the two characters.

It is also surprising to hear that Johnson declined to make an appearance since he was an executive producer of the first film and he has hinted in past interviews that they have plans for Shazam and Black Adam to have a faceoff in an upcoming project.

However, with the incoming changes in the DCU, it is hard to tell whether a Black Adam cameo in the film would have mattered since we don't know if those two characters with their respective actors will remain to be part of the new franchise under Gunn and Safran's regime.

At the end of the day, even though it is initially disappointing to hear that the film will not have any cameo appearances from Black Adam, Shazam! Fury of the Gods can still work without him and the most important part is they will be able to tell a good story with the characters that they need.
