Dungeons and Dragons Movie Can't Escape a Coronavirus Delay

Shocked Pikachu face. Is anyone honestly surprised that they decided to delay the Dungeons and Dragons movie? Not being condescending but when big franchise films with proven box office records like The Batman and Black Widow get delayed, it's easy enough to assume that a reboot of a bad movie that is also a popular table-top game will get the same fate. It still sucks though so if you're upset, we don't blame you.

According to ComicBook.com, Paramount Pictures quietly announced that the D&D movie would be delayed to 2022 due to the Coronavirus. While the movie was planned for 2021, advertising, marketing, and preparing promotional material takes a lot of time so they needed to make a call. This is why Venom was delayed to 2021, even though it was advertised for an October release date.

Considering how the movie was going to be directed by John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, both of whom co-wrote Spider-Man: Homecoming and almost directed Ezra " I choke you" Miller's The Flash movie, fans had high expectations. No big casting announcements have been revealed, nor do we know what campaign they will base this movie on but we can only hope for something good.

Then again, anything is better than the last Dungeons and Dragons movie. Yuck.

Dungeons and Dragons will now be released on May 27, 2022. Let's hope the pandemic has subsided by then.
