Dune’s First Look Photos Strike Parallels With Disney’s Star Wars

The first-look photos of Denis Villeneuve's adaptation of Dune finally made its way online today, and it looks like fans can't help but compare the snapshots to scenes from Lucasfilm's Star Wars sequel trilogy.

Vanity Fair released photos taken from the 2020 adaptation of Frank Herbert's legendary science fiction novel, Dune, and while most fans have been busy gushing over the pictures, some couldn't help but compare the films' style and design to Disney's Star Wars.

Taking to Twitter, pop culture fans couldn't help but point out parallels in the film's design to that of Star Wars. Timothee Chalamet's costume looks a whole lot like Adam Driver's Kylo Ren and Rebecca Ferguson's Lady Jessica Atreides reminds fans of Daisy Ridley's Dark Rey in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

They aren't the only parallels of course. The desert photos in the film remind fans of Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Oscar Isaac's presence reminds everyone of well, Oscar Isaac and how he played Poe Dameron.

Despite these visual similarities, Dune fans can't wait for Villeneuve's movie. Blade Runner 2049 was a critically-acclaimed visual masterpiece, and fans feel like Dune is going to be the same.

Featuring an all-star cast that includes Zendaya, Timothee Chalamet, Jason Momoa, Oscar Isaac, Havier Bardem, and so much more, this upcoming adaptation of Herbert's science fiction classic is certainly shaping up to be one of the biggest films of 2020.

Dune is set for release on December 18, thou89gh we have to wait and see whether the film might be affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
