Dune: Part Two Officially Begins Production

After the huge success of the first film in both box office and awards circuit, all eyes are now on Dune: Part Two, which will cover the second half of the first novel by Frank Herbert and will continue Paul Atreides' journey as set up by the end of the first film. Now, it looks like the sequel is officially happening as the development of the project has moved on to the next stage.

The social media account of Dune has officially announced that production for Dune: Part Two has started. They also posted a photo of a clapper from the set which furthermore confirms that the cast and crew are on the set with Denis Villeneuve back at the helm along with cinematographer Greig Fraser.

Returning cast members in the sequel include Timothee Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Zendaya, Josh Brolin, Javier Bardem, Stellan Skarsgard, and Dave Bautista. They are joined by Florence Pugh, Austin Butler, Christopher Walken, Lea Seydoux, and Souheila Yacoub. Hans Zimmer is also returning to compose the score. Production is taking place primarily in Budapest with additional filming in Italy.

It is exciting to hear that production for the film has started as it is a tangible sign that the sequel is underway and will possibly make it on time for its planned release next year. This should add more excitement to the audience who have been anticipating seeing Paul's next journey in Arrakis.

It would be interesting to see how the sequel will fare and whether it will match the success of the first film in both the box office and awards circuit or even perform better. Considering that almost the same crew from the first film is returning, we can at least presume that the sequel will remain in good hands.
