Lots of Dune content are getting released as of late and fans are getting more and more hyped for Denis Villeneuve's reboot. Dune isn't set to arrive until December, but its latest image provides a new look at Timothee Chalamet as Paul Atreides, as well as some insight from the director on the character.

"Paul has been raised in a very strict environment with a lot of training because he's the son of a Duke and one day... he's training to be the Duke," Villeneuve told Empire Magazine. "But as much as he's been prepared and trained for that role, is it really what he dreams to be?"

The filmmaker points out that this is the "contradiction of the character," much like Michael Corleone from The Godfather. Both are someone who has had "very tragic" fates and becomes something they weren't even wishing to be.

"His survival depends on being able to make the right decisions and adapt to different dangerous situations," Villeneuve added. "It's a very beautiful story about someone that becomes empowered."

The director says Paul is "trying to understand his place in the world," and in order to survive, he'll have to "do things that none of his ancestors were able to do." The character has a "beautiful duality" of being curious and having empathy and his attraction towards other cultures could save his life.

The new Dune reboot is set for release on December 18th.
