Dune DP Reveals Why Working With Denis Villeneuve was So Enjoyable

There is little doubt that working on a massive project like Dune could be terrifying for most people. However, cinematographer Greig Fraser has revealed that he never had a hard time on the set of the highly anticipated adaptation of Frank Herbert's works. Not surprisingly, this had a lot to do with his working relationship with director Denis Villeneuve.

Fraser recently spoke to Collider about his upcoming film and he was quick to point out that Villeneuve was a pleasure to work with.

"I can tell you that Denis is a master and a lovely human being who is passionate and wild and sensitive and loving," he said before adding that his opinion of the filmmaker was influenced by how similar they were.

"What I love about Denis is French-Canadians and Australians tend to have a lot of similarities in that we can get a bit passionately aggressive when we need to be," Fraser said. "The French-Canadians can be very, very passionate about life and things, so I found getting on with him really well on that, and also Patrice [Vermette] the production designer. I think we all had the same thing of, if something wasn't good, it'd be like, ‘That's bullshit!' and Patrice would be like, ‘Yeah, that's shit!' They wouldn't pull punches, which I found awesome, and we had the same relationship."

It's awesome to know that these artists got brutally honest with each other while working on the film. Needless to say, we can't wait to see what they have done with the movie.

Dune is scheduled for release on December 18.
