Dune Could be Delayed if Wonder Woman 1984 is Pushed Back

Fans are celebrating the release of the Dune trailer finally, but this day has come with a possible set back. With news of one superhero blockbuster possibly getting delayed, it's likely Dune could be pushed back to 2021.

Deadline reports that WB is currently in the process of deciding whether to delay Wonder Woman 1984 from its October release date. The idea is to have WW84 release in November or December, but this would mean that Dune would also have to be pushed back, possibly to 2021.

Besides the fact that the pandemic is still showing no signs of slowing down, an October release for Wonder Woman 1984 could mean bad things for Tenet, which is still limping in cinemas despite being one of the most anticipated films of the year. Should Wonder Woman come out on Oct. 2, hopes for Tenet earning more at the box office will plummet.

As for WW84 coming out in November/December, it's very likely that WB doesn't want that movie to clash with Dune as well, so a pushback for Dune would seem the logical choice.

While I was as deluded as everyone thinking that everything would have blown over by June, COVID-19 is still very much here, and I think it would still be dangerous even by December. So, as much as I would hate to wait, I think WB should really just push Dune back so everyone can enjoy it in theaters when things go back to normal; if they go back to normal.

As it stands, Wonder Woman 1984 is still slated to come out on Oct. 2 with Dune slated for Dec. 18.
