Crunchyroll announced a selection of new shows that joined its spring 2024 lineup. One surprising title that’s part of the announcement is Dragon Raja, which is now streaming on Crunchyroll.
Also titled Long Zu, Dragon Raja is a Chinese anime that originally aired from August to November 2022. While the series was released in China, the show did not get an official English release at the time.
All You Need to Know about the Chinese Anime Dragon Raja
Over the years, Chinese anime have become increasingly popular, and thankfully more accessible as an increasing number of shows have gotten English-subtitled releases.
Among these is Dragon Raja -The Blazing Dawn-. This anime by Tencent Penguin Pictures is based on a Chinese donghua series.
The series follows Lu Mingfei, a high school student who receives an admission letter from a foreign private university called Cassel College.
He accepts this invitation, but he soon discovers that the school’s mission is to protect humanity from dragons. Soon, Lu Mingfei uncovers the grim truth behind the conflict.
As the series is a Chinese production, the show’s original language is Mandarin. Given its Japanese release though, the series also has a Japanese voice cast that features lots of well-known names.

Meet the Dragon Raja Japanese Voice Cast
Aniplex announced the show’s Japanese version back in January 2024 with a new trailer. There, clips of the series were shared.
Soon, the show’s main cast was revealed, and it includes the following VAs:
- Ayumu Murase (Shoyo Hinata in Haikyuu) as Lu Mingze
- Daiki Yamashita (Izuku Midoriya in My Hero Academia) as Lu Mingfei
- Kaede Hondo (Maple in BOFURI) as Chen Motong
- Sally Amaki (Carol Olston in Tomo-chan Is a Girl!) as Zero
- Tatsumaru Tachibana (Jin Mo-Ri in The God of High School) as Finger
- Takeo Otsuka (Jinshi in The Apothecary Diaries) as Cesar Gattuso
- Kensho Ono (Tetsuya Kuroko in Kuroko's Basketball) as Chu Zihang

Dragon Raja Is Now Available on Crunchyroll
This series airs in Japan beginning this month. Given that Aniplex picked it up, it’s no surprise that Crunchyroll is also streaming the anime. After all, both Aniplex and Crunchyroll are owned by Sony.
Alongside this Chinese anime, Crunchyroll also added other shows to its lineup, including A Salad Bowl of Eccentrics, The New Gate, and Highspeed Étoile.
