When will Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero take place? Toei Animation already confirmed the official timeline regarding the highly anticipated movie's position in the timeline of Dragon Ball Super relative to the previous movie, Dragon Ball Super: Broly!
A new featurette called Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero Highlights Explained revealed facts about the new Dragon Ball Super movie, including this information about when it takes place in the anime's timeline:
"First of all, the story is set on Earth... After the fierce battle with Broly! But, peace didn't last for long!"
Anime fans have been wondering where Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero falls in the shonen's canon timeline. The Dragon Ball Super anime series concluded with the Tournament of Power Arc, which was followed by Dragon Ball Super: Broly movie, but there are still arcs in Akira Toriyama and Toyotarou's manga series that haven't been adapted in the anime series yet, but the timing between the events of Broly and the beginning of the (manga-only) Galactic Patrol Prisoner Saga (Moro Arc) is vague. The current Granolah the Survivor Saga started right after the fallout of Moro.
Now, we know that Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero turns out to be a backfill that connects the anime to the manga-only stories. The end of the upcoming movie could lead to a potential new season for the anime series. However, Toei Animation hasn't confirmed any plans to renew the anime series yet.

Toei Animation already announced an updated Japanese theatrical release date for Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero: June 11, 2022. There's still no word on whether or not the release dates in North America and other regions are affected by this delay.
