Dragon Ball Super: Broly will have a special panel at this weekend's New York Comic-Con but the film's director's scheduled appearance has been cancelled.

On Twitter, Funimation announced that director Tatsuya Nagamine won't show up in New York Comic-Con due to unforeseen circumstances.

While fans looking forward to seeing the director at the event may be disappointed, at least other members of the film's staff will be able to attend. Akio Iyoku and Horihiro Hayashida will be part of the special panel in addition to Goku's voice actress Masako Nozawa and Goku's English dub voice actor Sean Schemmel.

Here's Funimation's official description of the upcoming Dragon Ball Super: Broly New York Comic-Con panel, which will take place on October 5, 6 pm:

"The greatest action animated series of all time returns for a new movie of epic proportions! Join a roster of English voice actors—and special guests from Japan—as they discuss the film and reveal never-before-seen announcements. This panel reunites the English and Japanese voices of Goku, Sean Schemmel and Masako Nozawa, along with Japanese guest staff Akio Iyoku and Norihiro Hayashida!"

Synopsis:

This is the story of a new Saiyan. Earth is peaceful following the Tournament of Power. Realizing that the universes still hold many more strong people yet to see, Goku spends all his days training to reach even greater heights. Then one day, Goku and Vegeta are faced by a Saiyan called 'Broly' who they've never seen before. The Saiyans were supposed to have been almost completely wiped out in the destruction of Planet Vegeta, so what's this one doing on Earth? This encounter between the three Saiyans who have followed completely different destinies turns into a stupendous battle, with even Freeza (back from Hell) getting caught up in the mix.

Dragon Ball Super is available for streaming on Crunchyroll Saturdays at 7:15 p.m. CST. Toonami still airs the English dub of Dragon Ball Super on Adult Swim Saturdays at 9:30 p.m. It's also available to stream on FunimationNOW and Amazon. The upcoming Dragon Ball Super film will be released in Japan on December 14 and it's expected to be released in US sometime in January 2019.
