Dragon Ball Super: Broly Actor Explains Why Film's Broly is The "Best"

Dragon Ball Super: Broly didn't just bring Broly to the franchise canon but it also featured a character makeover from creator Akira Toriyama.

Broly's English voice actor Vic Mignogna recently talked with Comicbook.com, and explained why he thinks the latest version of Broly is a better take than the previous non-canon one.

"In fact, I would probably even say it's better because it is the creator's take — it is Toriyama's Broly," Mignogna said. "So, I'm excited. I'm very excited. I never imagined but had always hoped Broly might join the prime universe or the canon. When I heard the movie was coming out, I was so excited."

Mignogna admitted that he was worried about the new Broly. "I was impatiently waiting for that call because I got a little worried hearing it's a different Broly. I was like, ‘Oh no. Oh no! Don't do that! Don't take him away from me after playing him for 15 years!' I was extremely honored and excited."

Dragon Ball Super: Broly is now showing in Japanese theaters and will hit U.S. theaters on January 16. Dragon Ball Super currently airs on Adult Swim during Toonami's Saturday evenings at 9:30 p.m. It's also available to stream on Funimation and Amazon Video.
