Dragon Ball Fans Found One Awesome Avengers Connection

Toei Animation

Marvel's Avengers films are popular worldwide but many fans still haven't discovered the anime Avengers: Disk Wars in Japan but many Dragon Ball fans recently discovered Dragon Ball Super's impressive connection to the Marvel anime series: animator Naotoshi Shida, who animated awesome scenes between both shows.

Check out this scene from Avengers: Disk Wars:

Did that remind you of any scene from Dragon Ball Super? As AnimeAjay noted on Twitter, many of the staff members who worked on Dragon Ball Super, also animated for Avengers: Disk Wars, a collaboration between Toei Animation and Disney Japan. Of course, that includes Naotoshi Shida, and as you can see in the clip above, Iron Man's attack on Loki is similar to some of Goku's fights in Dragon Ball Super.

Shida used the same techniques in popular scenes like Mastered Ultra Instinct Goku's fight with Jiren. It's cool to see Shida's slick and fast animation style used in an Avengers anime and hopefully, we see more of his work in other non-Dragon Ball titles.

Dragon Ball Super is available for streaming on Crunchyroll Saturdays at 7:15 p.m. CST. Toonami still airs the English dub of Dragon Ball Super on Adult Swim Saturdays at 9:30 p.m. It's also available to stream on FunimationNOW and Amazon. The upcoming Dragon Ball Super film will be released in Japan on December 14 and Funimation will release it in North America sometime in January 2019.
