The cast of Don’t Worry Darling includes some of the biggest stars in the industry today.

Florence Pugh will play Alice

The lead actor of Don’t Worry Darling is Florence Pugh, who will be playing the character of Alice. Pugh has played memorable roles in movies and television shows with a wide range of genres, such as playing Yelena in Black Widow and the Hawkeye series and as Amy in Greta Gerwig’s Little Women.

Alice is a housewife in the 1950s in a utopian community somewhere in the Californian desert. She starts questioning her surroundings and the reality she lives in when she begins to have sinister encounters.

Harry Styles will play Jack

Watermelon Sugar singer Harry Styles will play Jack, Alice’s husband. Jack is an active member of the community who holds a ‘dark secret’ that even his wife doesn’t know about. Styles was not the original cast for Jack, though, for he joined the project after Shia LaBeouf opted to part with the project when director Olivia Wilde shifted the direction of the movie.

The Rest of the Don’t Worry Darling Cast

There are more Hollywood A-listers joining the cast of Don’t Worry Darling.

Kiki Layne joins the cast as Alice’s strange and paranoid neighbor Margaret, who warns Alice of the happenings within their community. The neighbor was originally played by Dakota Johnson, but she had to leave the project due to scheduling conflicts, for she was also filming If Beale Street Could Talk.

Other actors playing characters in Don’t Worry Darling are Olivia Wilder as Bunny and Chris Pine as worshipped leader of a cult-like company, Frank. We will also see Gemma Chan, who worked with Styles in the movie Eternals, play a character named Shelley.

Real-life Romance Behind the Scenes

While filming Don’t Worry Darling, a romance allegedly bloomed between director Olivia Wilde and actor Harry Styles. However, there have been reports that not everyone on set was happy about the relationship. In a report released by PageSix, Don’t Worry Darling star Florence Pugh was uncomfortable that Styles and Wilde were all over each other on set while Wilde was still with Jason Sudeikis, her partner at that time, with whom she shared two children. The rest of the crew were uncomfortable as well, especially since Sudeikis would come on set with their kids. Fans and internet sleuths have speculated that Styles was the reason behind Wilde and Sudeikis’ split.

Wilde and Sudeikis announced the end of their seven-year relationship in November 2020. The pair were never married despite being engaged since 2012.

Gemma Chan in Don'try Darling

Don’t Worry Darling is a thriller film set in an idyllic utopian community in California in the 1950s. Alice is a housewife living a seemingly perfect life, but she starts to question her circumstances after going through disturbing experiences, and the only one who believes her is her neighbor Margaret.

Warner Bros released an official synopsis for the film:

From New Line Cinema comes “Don’t Worry Darling,” directed by Olivia Wilde (“Booksmart”) and starring Florence Pugh (Oscar-nominated for “Little Women”), Harry Styles (“Dunkirk”), Wilde (upcoming “Babylon”), Gemma Chan (“Crazy Rich Asians”), KiKi Layne (“The Old Guard”) and Chris Pine (“All the Old Knives”). Alice (Pugh) and Jack (Styles) are lucky to be living in the idealized community of Victory, the experimental company town housing the men who work for the top-secret Victory Project and their families. The 1950’s societal optimism espoused by their CEO, Frank (Pine)—equal parts corporate visionary and motivational life coach—anchors every aspect of daily life in the tight-knit desert utopia. While the husbands spend every day inside the Victory Project Headquarters, working on the “development of progressive materials,” their wives—including Frank’s elegant partner, Shelley (Chan)—get to spend their time enjoying the beauty, luxury and debauchery of their community. Life is perfect, with every resident’s needs met by the company. All they ask in return is discretion and unquestioning commitment to the Victory cause. But when cracks in their idyllic life begin to appear, exposing flashes of something much more sinister lurking beneath the attractive façade, Alice can’t help questioning exactly what they’re doing in Victory, and why. Just how much is Alice willing to lose to expose what’s really going on in this paradise? An audacious, twisted and visually stunning psychological thriller, “Don’t Worry Darling” is a powerhouse feature from director Olivia Wilde that boasts intoxicating performances from Florence Pugh and Harry Styles, surrounded by the impressive and pitch-perfect cast.
