Don't Expect Flashy Costumes with Birds of Prey

Aquaman was a huge hit at the box office, and a lot of praise has come the way of the film in regards to it embracing its comic book roots. While Aquaman is all about flashy costumes though, it looks like next year's Birds of Prey will have a more down to earth approach.

According to Revenge of the Fans, director Cathy Yan will be going for a ‘less flashy' design concept for the Birds of Prey. With costumes from the MCU looking pretty uniform with their style, I would be interested to see just how different each installment of the DCEU would look.

It's said that the decision to have the simpler costumes is supposed to reflect on the DCEU's approach to be more respectful of the filmmakers that they've hired. After the studio was said to have been the cause for the failures of Suicide Squad and Justice League, it would make sense that WB would like everyone to know that they still think about the filmmakers when it comes to their movies.

For now, Birds of Prey is aiming for an early start of production this year. We don't have any official images of the cast yet, but hopefully DC gives us one official look before the cameras start rolling. I would hate for our first look of the characters to be from blurry set photos.

Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) comes out Feb. 7, 2020.
