Donald Glover Wants A Lando Movie Like “Frasier In Space”

Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy might have just recently debunked the rumors that the studio was working on a spinoff for Lando Calrissian, but that doesn't mean that fans have given up on the idea of a Lando movie just yet.

The debonair gambler became a fan-favorite the moment Billy Dee Williams first appeared as Lando in Star Wars: Episode V-The Empire Strikes Back, and now, fans have shown nothing but love for Donald Glover's younger version of the scoundrel in Solo: A Star Wars Story.

Now, speaking in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Glover admits that he wouldn't mind starring in a Lando movie, saying that he actually images a standalone film exploring the gambler's high-end life in space.

"It would be cool to see, like, Frasier in Space — like, a high-end guy in space," he said. "All of these characters are very specific and they have very specific points of view, so it's always going to be fun to see them traveling around to a planet that is the opposite of what they're used to… And all of that seems like it would be fun to write, for sure."

The Atlanta star also says that he'd love to reprise the role if Lucasfilm had a sequel for Solo, or if they planned on other films where young Lando's needed.

"I would love to do it again. It's really fun. The movie, I feel like, is wide open," he said. "This part of the universe without the… I feel like with the Skywalkers, it's hard because it's almost like the Bible. There's a story that you have to tell, and the lineage of that family. I feel like out here its like, yeah, we're just like hustlers and gamblers and space pirates, essentially, so you can do a lot more and have a lot more fun."

Though Solo: A Star Wars Story has one of the lowest Rotten Tomato Ratings in the Star Wars franchise ( a lot of critics have lambasted the film for playing it safe), reviewers have praised Glover's performance as Lando, saying that the character is actually one of the bright spots in the film. With so many positive reactions towards Glover's version of Lando, it definitely wouldn't be a surprise to see Lucasfilm bringing the actor back for another Star Wars movie.

Solo: A Star Wars Story premieres this Friday, May 23.
