Donald Glover Confirms Talks with Lucasfilm to Reprise Star Wars Role

A few years ago, Lucasfilm announced that they were working on a Lando Calrissian series. There were assumptions from fans that the project will bring back Donald Glover to reprise the titular character from Solo: A Star Wars Story. However, since then, we really haven't heard any updates about the project.

A lot of fans are now wondering whether the series will still happen. After all, Glover has been busy in the past couple of years with projects such as the final season of Atlanta and the new Amazon series Swarm. He is also working on multiple other projects in both TV and music as Childish Gambino.

In a recent video from GQ where he broke down his iconic characters, Glover reflected on his time playing Lando Calrissian where he shared that he is open to reprising the role again, but it has to be the "right way" for them to do it.

"I would love to play Lando again. It's a fun time to be him. It just needs to be the right way to do it," he said.

"Now, time is precious. I think everybody’s like, you know, from the past couple years with this pandemic shit, like really had people experience time in a way where they’re like, ‘Well, why am I... I should be around oranges.’"

He added, "People kind of realized that their time was valuable. You only get so much. So I am not interested in doing anything that’s just going to be a waste of my time or just a paycheck. I’d much rather spend time with people that I enjoy. So it just has to be the right thing, which I think it could be. Lando is definitely somebody I’d like to hang out with."

Glover also teased that he is in active conversations with Lucasfilm about returning to play Lando Calrissian, but he didn't spill any specific details.

He said, "We’re talking about it. That’s as much as I can say without Kathleen Kennedy hunting me down."

This is certainly an exciting development for the actor's potential return to the Star Wars universe since a lot of fans have been clamoring for him to play Lando Calrissian again in his own solo project. While it is not happening anytime soon, it is still good to hear that both sides are enthusiastic about the possibility.
