Don Cheadle Admits Having Concerns Over the MCU's Quality Control

Throughout Phase Four in the MCU, we heard some fans and critics open up about their concerns about the franchise as they're ramping up a lot more projects than they ever before, especially as they are now also embarking on the small screen with the shows that they're doing for Disney+.

As it turns out, one of the franchise's main stars also feels the same way as Don Cheadle, who plays James Rhodes/War Machine, recently opened up about his concerns about the franchise's quality control and "spreading too thin" in a recent interview with Total Film (via The Direct).

The Oscar-nominated actor was first asked about his thoughts on the franchise's huge expansion where he revealed that the upcoming series Secret Invasion will set up the events in his solo movie Armor Wars.

"It’s bananas! And it’s very expansive. And obviously now that everyone can show up in everybody else’s story," he said. "I mean, I’m in Secret Invasion. So I’m in Sam [Jackson]’s show. There’s a part of that, that kicks off what happens in Armor Wars."

The actor went on to express his concerns about the franchise's quality control although he is also hopeful at the same time as he is confident that there is still a "clear idea" about the storytelling of the universe even as it expands.

He continued, "So yeah, it can go on and on and on... Hopefully it doesn’t get spread too thin. And there’s still some quality control and not just trying to expand for expansion’s sake. But there’s a clear idea about the storytelling and what you’re trying to accomplish with every iteration."

There is really some truth about Cheadle's concerns regarding the franchise and fans are hopeful that the quality can remain consistent. Fortunately, reports have come out that Marvel Studios is indeed addressing the issues and is figuring out how they can retain the quality again. Let's see how it will affect its upcoming slate and whether some changes will happen.
