V24 is Temporary, But Did Butcher Just Keep His Powers?
Billy Butcher had risked his life trying to avenge his deceased wife, Becca, since The Boys season 2.
However, season 3 kicked things up a notch for him when he managed to get his hands on V24, aka a serum that grants temporary superpowers for 24 hours. The catch? It also takes a toll on your lifespan.
This is one of the issues Butcher faced upon ending the third season. Despite being warned by Starlight that taking V24 could turn his brain into 'Swiss cheese', Butcher continued to use it, cutting his lifespan severely short.
The Boys season 4 continued to show signs that he was growing weaker by the minute, thanks to the aftereffects of being exposed for too long to V24. However, how did he end up killing Ezekiel in episode 4?
Many fans guessed that Butcher may have kept his powers without him knowing it. Considering that he passed out before finding Ezekiel had exploded inside of the trailer, it could mean Butcher had something to do with this.
But does this mean V24 can actually give permanent powers, then?

Does This Mean V24 Gives Permanent Powers?
Unfortunately, there's no concrete answer for this, since the show has yet to address it for now. Even Butcher himself was quite shocked when he woke up to find the bloodied trailer with Ezekiel's head in the corner of the room and his hands filthy.
Fans surmised that this may be because of how long Butcher had been exposed to V24. Hughie has only had four doses, unlike Butcher's five, but luckily, season 4 still has more episodes up its sleeve to confirm.
It remains to be seen whether this means Butcher has permanent powers now, but if it does, then he will be taking advantage of his newfound strength and put himself to good use before it's too late.
If anything, the Boys will gain the upper hand with a new Supe on the team who could match Victoria Neuman's head-exploding abilities.
