Doctor Who Star Wants to be Next Doctor's Companion After Jodie Whittaker Exit

We already know that Jodie Whittaker and current showrunner Chris Chibnall will be leaving Doctor Who after the current season. But does that also mean that the next Doctor will find themselves with a new Companion? Mandip Gill has admitted that she wants to continue working with the Time Lord in her next regeneration!

It has already been confirmed that Doctor Who Flux will be the last season with Jodie Whittaker's Thirteenth Doctor. Although most Whovians are disappointed that Whittaker is leaving so soon, people are also excited about the next incarnation of the Time Lord. For now, the next Doctor has not yet been announced but Gill is hoping that she will still serve as their Companion.

Gill recently spoke to Radio Times where she pointed out that a new Doctor doesn't necessarily mean an entirely new cast.

"You also never know with this series, a lot of why it works is because there are a lot of secrets, and then a lot of revelation. And it’s really exciting. And that’s actually what people love is that they don’t know what’s around the corner, but they always get to guess," Gill said. "I’ve loved every minute of the journey. And actually, that’d be some time in the future that that would happen. But I’d say… never say never."

For now, Gill and new Companion John Bishop are expected to return as Yasmin Khan and Dan Lewis in the upcoming Doctor Who Specials. There have been no casting updates on the new Doctor or their companions. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.

Doctor Who Flux wrapped up with the sixth and final episode The Vanquishers. The Thirteenth Doctor, Yaz, and Dan will return in the Holiday Special Eve of the Daleks which will air on New Years' Day.
