Doctor Who Star Jodie Whittaker Teases Heartbreaking Holiday Special

We're only a few days away from the Doctor Who Holiday Special and it looks like Jodie Whittaker can't help but hype up the upcoming episode. However, the Thirteenth Doctor claims that working on the Special that will air on New Year's Day was actually heartbreaking for her.

Whittaker recently spoke to Entertainment Weekly where she confessed that she was emotional while filming the Holiday Special since it would be the last episode that would feature Bradley Walsh's Graham and Tosin Cole's Ryan.

"I was absolutely beside myself. I don't have a poker face. It's my actual job, so I should be better at it. But I remember when they called a wrap on that day, Tosin was like, 'Calm Down!' I'd gone, I'd absolutely gone," Whittaker said. She then added that although she is sad about seeing Walsh and Cole leave, she is still looking forward to continuing the Doctor's adventures with Mandip Gill's Yaz.

"In a way, it's just reflective of the time we've had and this journey. I'm really lucky. Me and Mandip are still in the journey, but, because it was the end of us four, and us four have been so tight, it was one of those things," Whittaker said. She continued by sharing how amazing working on Doctor Who has been for her.

"I know that in my life, this is one of the best things that will ever happen to me and the best times that I will ever have on set. This job is this thing that is untouchable. There'll be a million other amazing experiences, hopefully. But if I do this for 20 seasons I know my first time as the Doctor was with this family as this four and this is our time — a Goonies moment, it's our time! I felt very much like a kid in a well. I was so sad," Whittaker concluded.

There is little doubt that Whovians will be sad knowing that Graham and Ryan will be leaving after the Holiday Special. Nevertheless, we are looking forward to what the Doctor has in store for us in the coming year.

The Doctor Who Holiday Special will air on BBC on New Year's Day.
