Doctor Who might have decided to skip its traditional Christmas special, but that doesn't mean that Whovians are going to have an empty holiday season. The eleventh season of BBC's Doctor Who is gearing up for its New Year's Day special, and now it looks like the network's released a brand new teaser for the episode revealing the return of an iconic baddie: the Daleks.
Posting its New Year Special teaser on YouTube, BBC teases the return of Doctor Who's biggest nemesis, one that the 13th Time Lord describes as one of the most dangerous creatures in the universe.
While we don't get to see the new Daleks in the short 25-second teaser for the Doctor Who New Year Special, we do get the sense of urgency in the Doctor's voice as she explains to her comrades just what the Daleks are.
You can check out the teaser in the video above. Meanwhile, the teaser description gives fans an idea of what's to come in the New Year Special. Check it out down here:
"As the New Year begins, a terrifying evil is stirring from across the centuries of Earth's history. Will the Doctor (Jodie Whittaker), Ryan (Tosin Cole), Graham (Bradley Walsh) and Yaz (Mandip Gill) be able to overcome this threat to Planet Earth?"
While that might not be enough information about the upcoming special, the return of the Daleks should be enough to send Whovians to the small screen, ready with their own sonic screw drivers. It's certainly going to be a wild ride with the Daleks around and we can't wait and see how Jodie Whitaker's Doctor Who handles it.
Doctor Who returns for its New Year's Day Special on Tuesday, January 1, 2019.
