Doctor Who: New Featurette Shows Off Doctor 13's New TARDIS

With Steven Moffat stepping down as showrunner for Doctor Who, it looks like the series is going through a major overhaul. This time around, we're actually going to have a woman play the Doctor, and a new featurette gives us a closer look at her TARDIS.

With the previous incarnations embracing the sci-fi/tech elements of the TARDIS, this new design has a more organic approach. We already know that Jodie Whittaker's Doctor has a very odd-looking sonic screwdriver, but we didn't know that it would translate into the interior of her TARDIS as well.

To bank on Whittaker's very physical performance, they also lessened the buttons on the console preferring dials that would have Whittaker moving onscreen. They also introduced this fun mechanism that delivers a custard pie to the Doctor whenever she steps on a pedal.

So far, reception for Whittaker has been very warm, and a lot of people have been celebrating her entry into the franchise. Though a lot of people are missing Stephen Moffat at the helm, a lot of people have faith that Chris Chibnall will bring a whole new life to the Who franchise with Whittaker onboard. She's wacky, charming, and I'm sure a lot of kids will grow to love her just like they did with every incarnation of the Doctor.

The eleventh season of Doctor Who has officially started, and you can catch the next episode The Ghost Monument on BBC One tonight.
