The Avengers might have tried their best in Avengers: Infinity War, but at the end of the film, Thanos managed to gather all six Infinity Stones and wipe out half of the universe with a snap of his finger. A lot of the Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy turned into dust at the end of the film: Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman), Bucky (Sebastian Stan), Groot (Vin Diese), Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), Spider-Man (Tom Holland), Mantis (Pom Klementieff) and so many more fell victim to Thanos' finger-snapping massacre.
What's worse is that Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch), the one person who seemed to know the only way to defeat Thanos, also turned into dust at the end of Infinity War.
Though a lot of fans believe that Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Captain America (Chris Evans) and the rest of the remaining Avengers are on their own in undoing Thanos' hard work, a new fan theory posted on Reddit suggests that the team might have Doctor Strange after all.
Reminding fans about a moment in the Doctor Strange solo movie where the Ancient One tells Stephen Strange that she can't see past her own death, Reddit user pdgenoa suggests that Strange might actually have the same limitations. But if the Sorcerer Supreme can't see past his own death, how did he see all the different futures of the Avengers?
According to the theory, it's likely that Strange saw the deaths of the different characters in the film. When the time came, Doctor Strange caused a similar illusion, letting the Avengers and Thanos believe that he was dead like his comrades at arms. If the world believed that he was gone, Strange could work behind the scenes in Avengers 4.
Though it might seem like a stretch, this fan theory doesn't seem improbable. It does fall inside the potential of Doctor Strange's powers and opens up the franchise up to another method of saving the universe.
