Cumberbatch discussed "logistical challenge of aligning his schedule with those of Robert Downey Jr, Chris Hemsworth, Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany" but said despite the struggle, it's worth it. "To get us all together will be quite something," he said. "That's why this character is being introduced, to open up the next chapter… so watch this space to see how that unfolds".

The Russo Brothers will be filming Infinity War and its follow up movie out of order to make full use of which actors can be on the set at the time. The movie will undoubtedly have a very large cast. Captain America, Iron Man, Vision, Star Lord, and several other characters have already been confirmed.

Before he appears in Infinity War, Cumberbatch will be headlining Doctor Strange, which will premiere November 4th of this year. Avengers: Infinity War will be premiering May 4, 2018. The follow-up Avengers movie is coming May 3, 2019.
