Doctor Strange and Ant-Man Connection Confirmed By Director

Ever since the Marvel Cinematic Universe decided to take a ride into the mystical arts with Benedict Cumberbatch in Doctor Strange, fans have been very eager to know when they'd see the arrogant but witty sorcerer in training (in the MCU he's not Sorcerer Supreme yet) on the big screen again.

While the film's end credit scene pointed towards a cameo in Thor: Ragnarok and while Stephen Strange is to appear in the massive gathering of Marvel superheroes in Avengers: Infinity War, rumor has been spreading that Cumberbatch would be in Ant-Man 2 too.

Now, CBR reports that Doctor Strange director Scott Derrickson confirms the connection between his Marvel film and the original Ant-Man. In the Doctor Strange home release director's commentary points out to the dimension Strange gets flung into by the Ancient One (Tildo Swinton) during their initial meeting.

"This image here is obviously a nod to ‘Ant-Man' and the Quantum Realm, acknowledging that as one of the mysterious realms of existence," Derrickson confirmed.

For those who don't remember, the Quantum Real was introduced in Ant-Man when Paul Rudd's Scott Lang shrunk himself down to subatomic level to defeat Yellowjacket. Could this mean that Strange would be appearing in Ant-Man and The Wasp? It's another possibility.

Thor: Ragnarok makes its cinematic release on November 3 this year while Ant-Man and The Wasp debuts in theaters on July 6, 2018.
