Doctor Strange 2 Nabs Loki Series Head Writer to Work with Sam Raimi

It looks like Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is finally on a roll after losing original director Scott Derrickson. The highly anticipated Marvel Cinematic Universe flick has just found a screenwriter, and it happens to be the head writer for the upcoming Loki series.

The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that Michael Waldron is joining the Doctor Strange 2 creative team to possibly rewrite the sequel's script. The news comes shortly after it was revealed that legendary horror filmmaker Sam Raimi would helm the MCU flick.

Waldron is a welcome addition to Doctor Strange 2 but what does this mean for the movie? Some believe that Marvel Studios is planning to start over with what Derrickson has already presented for the project. With Waldron possibly coming in to rewrite the screenplay, there is a bigger chance that the studio will get exactly what they want with the second Doctor Strange flick.

Fans were thrilled when it was confirmed that Raimi will take over the MCU flick since the filmmaker is known for his work on horror classics like the Evil Dead franchise. In addition to that, Raimi had previously helmed the Spider-Man trilogy starring Tobey Maguire. Needless to say, we're expecting great things in Doctor Strange 2.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is scheduled for release on May 7, 2021.
