There's been a lot of Doctor Strange news the past few weeks. Last month, word came out that Doctor Strange director Scott Derrickson decided to exit Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness director because of creative differences with Marvel. Earlier this week, Marvel fans were met with the news that Marvel was in discussions with Spider-Man trilogy director Sam Raimi to take over the Phase 4 project.
Though there hasn't been that many details about the film's plot, a new report suggests that Doctor Strange 2 could very well lead into the Marvel Cinematic Universe's next team-up movie. According to a report by Showbiz CheatSheet, there are inside sources who are saying that Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is going to lead directly to Avengers 5.
While Marvel fans have long since known that Scarlett Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) is set to appear alongside the Sorcerer Supreme (Benedict Cumberbatch) in Doctor Strange 2, the site suspects that Wanda may end up being the main antagonist of the movie. If she does, then sources say that the film could very well call on the help of other Marvel heroes like Spider-Man (Tom Holland) and Captain Marvel (Brie Larson).
With the two appearing in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, it seems like the film could lead to another team-up movie for Marvel, something which the sources suspect will not premiere until Phase 5 of the MCU.
It's an interesting claim, to say the least. However, as with any rumor online, we advise fans to take the report with a grain of salt. Who's to tell whether Wanda really is going to be a villain in Doctor Strange 2?
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is set to premiere on May 5, 2021.
