Doctor Strange 2: Elizabeth Olsen Admits Scarlet Witch is NOT a Role Model

There is little doubt that Scarlet Witch is the most powerful Avenger out there but she's not exactly the best person that children should look up to. Elizabeth Olsen has pointed out that Wanda Maximoff is not a role model and that kids should not imitate the things she has done in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness!

In Doctor Strange 2, it is revealed that Wanda is the one who has been trying to capture America Chavez with plans to take away her power. There are several instances where Scarlet Witch begins to drain America's powers away and it's a painful process for the young hero.

Of course, Wanda explains that she only wants to be reunited with her sons who now exist in a different universe. However, the idea of Scarlet Witch actually harming a child isn't something that heroes would do. Not surprisingly, Elizabeth Olsen is well aware of this and points out that kids shouldn't look up to the character.

"I think the thing that I worry about is when people start saying, 'Is she a role model to children?'" Olsen told Comicbook.com. "And I don't like answering that question at all because she is a woman who's made big mistakes, and I don't want to think of her as a role model, encouraging kids to make similar violent mistakes."

"The only thing that worries me is she became this thing that even little kids loved, and then we're really pushing it with this one," she continued. "So that's the one thing where I'm like, 'I don't want to answer role model questions.'"

Scarlet Witch may not be the role model that parents are hoping she would be but there is still a lot we can learn from the character. Needless to say, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has shown us a side of reality where even the strongest can make mistakes.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness also stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Rachel McAdams, Benedict Wong, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Xochitl Gomez. The film is currently screening in theaters worldwide.
