Doctor Strange 2 Concept Art Reveals Wong's Original Appearance in Earth-838

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is now a certified box office hit as it has grossed more than $900 million and received positive responses from fans and critics. One of the standouts in the film is Wong, who had a lot of awesome action sequences and moments throughout. However, as it turns out, he was supposed to have more scenes in the film than what they ended up showing.

Concept artist Dean Sherriff shared some of the works that he did for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness on his portfolio website where he revealed that Wong was supposed to appear in the Earth-838 scenes along with Doctor Strange and America Chavez.

Sherriff didn't provide any explanation regarding why Wong was eventually cut out of the scene. Also, it looks like it was Defender Wong who was in the concept designs instead of the Earth-616 Wong that we know. As The Direct pointed out in their report, there was merchandise that featured Defender Wong, who didn't end up appearing in the film for unknown reasons.

We do know that the film underwent a lot of reshoots during its production and perhaps they did shoot some scenes where a variant of Wong was present in Earth-838 before they decided to cut him out. Perhaps we will be hearing more details and explanations regarding this once we see the behind-the-scenes documentary about the film in the near future.

The film's premise reads: "The MCU unlocks the Multiverse and pushes its boundaries further than ever before. Journey into the unknown with Doctor Strange, who, with the help of mystical allies both old and new, traverses the mind-bending and dangerous alternate realities of the Multiverse to confront a mysterious new adversary."
