DKZ, previously DONGKIZ, has multiple surprises for fans.

The K-pop group, who refers to BTS as their role model, started their own journey in February 2019 through their album, Dongkiz on the Block. They faced different changes before and after their debut, including the change in debut date and having a different song to promote.

Despite that, they have been receiving positive reviews and praises due to their award-winning albums and singles, including Dongky Town, BlockBuster, Ego, Youniverse, and Chase Episode 1. Ggum.

For this year, they embraced another change in their career ahead of their highly-anticipated album release.

DKZ, Formerly DONGKIZ, Offers Surprises

On Monday, DKZ shared a 22-second clip on YouTube, announcing their comeback through their sixth single album, Chase Episode 2. Maum.

The K-pop boy group confirmed that they would drop the new music on April 12 at 6:00 p.m. KST. It will serve as their first album since July 2021’s Chase Episode 1. Ggum.

The announcement came days after the group’s agency, Dongyo Entertainment, revealed that the K-pop boy group would change its name from DONGKIZ to DKZ. In the same announcement, the company delivered the tragic news about Wondae’s departure from DKZ due to his health.

Munik, who remains on hiatus due to his health, will reportedly continue promoting with the rebranded group. Still, he will not be able to participate yet due to his condition.

The statement continued:

“Additionally, while we were aware that many people wanted the group to resume activities with all five members, it was not a matter that could be decided right away, in a single moment, or an easy decision that we could make in haste, which is why it took so long for us to make an announcement. We sincerely apologize to the fans who must have felt frustrated because they didn’t know what was going on for a long time.”

It then sent its well wishes for both Wondae and Munik as they continue to recover from their health issues.

DKZ Welcomes 3 New Members

Although DKZ permanently lost one member, Dongyo Entertainment reportedly welcomed trainees to debut with the group.

It revealed that the company recruited three new idols – Kyoungyoon, Jaechan, and Jonghyeong – to promote with the remaining members.

“Dongyo Entertainment wishes for both Wondae and Munik to make speedy recoveries, and we hope that the fans will send warm support and encouragement to the members, who are preparing to take a leap once again as DKZ,” the statement went on.
