Djimon Hounsou Talks Korath's Place in Captain Marvel

Korath may have met his end in Guardians of the Galaxy, but Marvel Studios has found a way to bring the character back with Captain Marvel. Djimon Hounsou is reprising his role, and when we meet him in the film, he will be alongside Carol Danvers as a member of the Kree Starforce.

Talking to EW (via ComicBookMovie), Hounsou explains a bit about his character in the film. He explains, "[Korath] is still a humorless machine… But we get to experience him in his infancy."

Though Korath is more of a side character, some of the biggest laughs from Guardians still come from him, from his bewilderment at who ‘Star-Lord' is, to the satisfying recognition he has during the climax when he meets Peter Quill again.

Besides Korath, we also get to see Ronan the Accuser making a return in Captain Marvel. It's said that this movie will have him be a ‘high ranking member of Kree society' as compared to the first Guardians, where Ronan is considered an outcast by his people.

Though I'm sure the movie is going to explore the fall of both Ronan and Korath, it would be interesting if Marvel decided to keep their stories going on for a little longer. Then again, I'll be satisfied if both of them just got a bit more lore in their backstories.

Captain Marvel is set to come out March 8, 2019.
