Disney, Fox Merger Overcomes Another Major Hurdle

Despite several announcements, the Disney and Fox merger still have a number of obstacles and proceedings to go through before anything becomes official. Still, the companies have done a good job at overcoming these difficulties and it looks like they managed to conquer another one, albeit with some special conditions. Worry not, as it looks like we'll be getting the X-Men and Fantastic Four in the MCU very soon, even if it means that Hollywood will be dying a little.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Walt Disney company has managed to get approval from the European Commission, which is major news. The company had to divest its interests in "all factual channels it controls in the European Economic Area (EEA), namely: History, H2, Crime & Investigation, Blaze and Lifetime channels."

The United States has already approved of this buyout, so it looks like Disney is on its way of being a ridiculously powerful studio. Owning all of the Fox properties is nothing to slouch at. It's not just the X-Men or Fantastic Four but The Simpsons, Family Guy, and Alien. Fans mostly want a complete Marvel Cinematic Universe but it is coming at a cost, which is Disney becoming more powerful than ever.

With this buyout looking more likely, it's clear that Dark Phoenix and New Mutants might be the final X-Men films released by Fox. Everyone is looking forward to the X-Men and Fantastic Four under Marvel Studios.
